One for All Remote

I just received a new "mini" box Evolution model DMS2344UHDS and I can't seem to program my OneForAll remote to control the box. Does anyone know of the manufacturer code for the mini-box?

Is "Digital Multimedia Corporation" listed? Try them. They make the DMS2344UHDS. Try them. (DC10HD if possible.)

CTYankee,

The mini box works with an IR remote. We're not aware of what codes might be applicable, but we continue to evaluate future enhancements with the remote, including universal remote programming.

The Cisco mini-box? Yes. The Evolution mini-box? I'm not so certain. Does the Evolution remote have a model number? CTYankee?

Is the picture in the URL I posted correct for the DMS2344UHDS ??

Domino,

Saying this may bite me on the hindquarters later, but I want to avoid any additional confusion regarding RF and IR. The residential minibox uses IR. Yes, there is an RF version, but its planned use seems to be rather limited so I think the document link you shared would not be applicable.

The Cox DTA 2220 remote information can be found here: http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=927 and our support article at http://www.cox.com/residential/support/tv/article.cox?articleId=751466b0-1802-11e4-d88c-000000000000 contains links to additional resources.

The OP had the Evolution model DMS2344UHDS mini-box. It looks to be RF, with an input on the side for an IR extender.

This just says "IR support." I can't find any codes, however.

Can I be the one to point how foolish it seems be that Cox purchased the unit with RF remote when all Cox's remote are IR? I guess atleast now it will be easier to have two receivers in the same room..but seems like its going to cause more hassle on the support side.

Do all of the mini receivers use RF?

Apparently, they are IR (2220 remote) with a RF option (RF 3220-R remote.)

That makes much more sense. I bet that's something people have been asking for since a while. Anyone have any reports of range and performance of the RF mechanism? Is it a new standard?

It's kinda new.  This RF technology is RF4CE (Radio Frequency for Consumer Electronics)...standardized in 2003...revised in 2006...and based on IEEE 802.15.4.

The RF4CE Consortium adopted the ZigBee standard for radio frequency-based remote controls...much like the WLAN Working Group adopted the standards of the WiFi Alliance in 1999.

The standard is short-range, low-rate, low-latency...hence low-cost and low-power...for 250 kbit/s wireless data transfer from 10 to 100 meters.
