On Demand

Why is the On Demand so messed up? a show is on Monday night and I look for it on On Demand under the station for the HD and yet it isn't there. two days later it is under the normal broadcast but still not under HD. One week I wanted to watch a show and after a week still wasn't offered and ended up watching it online from the network website. I just recently moved into the Cox area and before this I had Charter and they offered not only the network stations on the On demand but most of the cable stations as well. I an truly disappointed in the service so far that I have received from Cox. Are you(Cox) ever going to figure out what you are doing and fix this issues rather than try to push other services that cost more money on us?

I totally agree. Also they reset the shows you've watched and label the NEW. Sometimes you will see two of the same show (both HD or both SD). It's a pain in the *** sometimes to even know if you've seen a show. I understand that cox's response for this will be that the release of the shows is out of their control, that they can only show it when they get a copy of it. I guess 'you'll get it when we get it' is as good a response as any. Too bad I can't use that excuse when paying my bill.

I think its all a ploy to get us to buy DVR services or their CONTOUR service. They make shows scarce on demand, cap your data to limit how much you can stream, then offer you a DVR service for an additional fee per month PLUS service charges, taxes and fees.

Hi PauleCS2 & Digitalsmeg,

Broadcast rights govern the distribution of copyrighted content. We add new episodes to our On Demand library as soon as we receive it from the responsible network. Some networks are very good about getting content to us 24 hours after the original air-date of the episode; some networks are quite the opposite. I share both of your frustrations, but in this case we are at the complete mercy of the network supplying the content.

Aren't we paranoid. And, BTW, how many times has Cox actually enforced any sort of data cap? Take your time. I'll wait.

Cox does enforce its data cap. Did you just call them out? lol

Instead of rhetoric, how about actual examples?

I completely agree that Cox On Demand is completely awful. How can they advertise that most shows are available On Demand the day after they premiere when in all actuality more then 50% of the shows are not available until a few days or even a week later?? That does not seem right to me at all.

And I'm sorry but Renee G, Cox Support Forum Moderator, your answer doesn't seem to explain anything at all. I have a home in the NW with Comcast as my provider and they actually do put every single show On Demand the next day. So if it is a "Network problem", why is it only with Cox? Just saying.

Understandably it can be annoying with each network having it's own policies with regards to what programming they're willing to license for OnDemand distribution, when, and how long.  I've personally found that DVR is a great solution for turning all programming into "OnDemand" so to speak.
