number of devices connected to my modem
does my smart phone count as a "computer" in the number of computers allowed under my preferred plan? does it mean 3 can be connected at the same time or just set up to connect?

Are you referring to computers as they are listed in Internet Tools? The terms computes as it's used there is intended to be a more customer friendly term for IP addresses and wouldn't be applicable in situations where you use a router to share the Internet connection in your home.
