Netgear CG3000D Modem
Purchased the Netgear CG3000D Modem. Was using the DOCSIS 2.0 Phone Modem with a 4 port DLink wireless router that ran at 10/100.
Thought that upgrading to the Netgear CG3000D Modem would be faster and I would be able to take advantage of the new higher speeds, since I do have a 1000 MB network card, and Wireless N, on my computer. Found out very quickly that there are many issues with this Modem. The USB is disabled by Cox. A feature that I was looking forward to using. The configuration pages were continuously locking me out and requesting the password, but failing to connect. Had to reboot the computer after nearly every change. I completely reset the Modem, and began from scratch. The speed was simply horrible. Loading Speedtest.net was taking more than 1 minute alone, and then the test its self was less than the 10/100 router I had been using.
Long story short, this Modem is back in it's box and will be returned. I'm happily back on the old Modem and 10/100 router.
Anyone had any better results with any of the other Cox compatible Modems?

Hi, do you know if the USB Port is disabled on the Cisco DPC3825, or the Motorola SBG6580?

Not-Happy,
The Motorola is not a Cox modem therefore you'd need to refer to the manufacturer. The USB port on the Cisco DPC3825 is however disabled.
It's simply there so that you can plug a hard drive or printer into the router and share across the network. Hope this information helps.

Hi, You say
"The USB port on the Cisco DPC3825 is however disabled. It's simply there so that you can plug a hard drive or printer into the router and share across the network".
If it is disabled, how would you share any device thru it?

To clarify, I believe Dina ment to say that was the intended purpose of the vendor putting the port on the device however that feature is disabled on our deployment. If this is a feature you require your best option would be to explore othe routers available at 3rd party retailers.
