NetGear CG3000

What model cable modem does Cox offer in the Omaha NE area currently?  My current modem, the CG3000, is slow and it seems to have a limited range for wireless access.  For instance, it took 10 seconds to load this page.

We primarily issue wireless gateways at our Solutions Stores and via field technicians and shipment to the home, and our current options for those are the CG3000D and CG4500BD.

For standalone modems, we issue the Cisco DPC3010, Motorola SB6180, and are starting to phase in the SB6182, though which of those three will be available at any given time is impossible to say as our inventory system considers them effectively equal.

You can purchase a modem at retail if you choose to, as long at it's on the current compatibility list at http://bit.ly/CoxCompatibleModems

I would always suggest a stand alone modem over a wireless gateway. Easier to troubleshoot, better performance (in general), better selection, and if one goes down you can replace/upgrade just that without needing a whole new gateway.

If your looking for info, two great sites are Newegg for prices and user reviews and SmallNetReview. for very indepth technical reviews.
