You may opt to rent a Netgear WiFi modem from Cox with a monthly rate of $6.99 added to your current monthly rate. You may visit a nearby Cox Solution Store if you're looking to rent.
If you want/need an AC WiFi router get the ASUS RT-AC66U (or R*) Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router ASUS also sells more expensive models, that may give you more range for large homes, usually a WiFi repeater or AP is preferred for large coverage areas.
* the "R" model is sold at BestBuy, Costco and SamsClub, but is the exact same router.

If you want fastest and most reliable, then you DON'T want a modem/router gateway IMO. Were you stuck on that or just looking to upgrade?

I agree to keep your Modem and Router as separate devices, just say no to Cox combo units.
If you want the fastest and best WiFi router, get an ASUS.
If you don't need an AC WiFi router, get the ASUS RT-N66U (or R*) Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router
