NBC Sports Live Extra

I don't know if its only me or not, but about 2 weeks ago NBC sports live extra doesn't list Cox as one of the providers anymore. I was using it just fine for a few months to watch EPL games. What is the deal with this, all other major providers offer NBC Sports live extra, has it been taken away or am I do something wrong?

Hi Calvin, In previous years, we all had live-stream access to NBC sports (including Sunday Night Football) through the NBC Sports LiveExtra app. Prior to the start of the current NFL season, however, NBC began requiring users to go through an authentication process. Cox is working with NBC to set up access for Cox customers so that we all have access to live-stream NBC content again. We hope to get this resolved very soon!

Hi Everyone,

Cox is an active provider for NBC Sports Network LiveEXtra online streaming and the NBC Sports LiveExtra mobile app. NBC Sports LiveExtra was originally developed for the NBC Sports Network and then expanded to include other NBC affiliates. Cox does not yet have access to live content broadcast on NBC.

If you go to to http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra/ (via PC) and click on 'Watch Now' for a program airing on NBC Sports Network, Cox is listed as a provider. If you click on 'Watch Now' for a program airing live on NBC, Cox is not listed as a provider.

We are working to get more information about access to all NBC live content (including Sunday Night Football) and will provide an update as soon as we can. I apologize for all of the confusion!

For the record, I've been watching NFL Sun. night games on the NBC app for a couple years.  All of a sudden this year, it's gone.

PAY UP like all the other providers obviously did!

This still hasn't been resolved. Cox has been pulled from the provider list for the NBC live extra app and cox customers no longer have access. You posted a reply on the 22nd of September and no one has bothered to follow up. My cable bill is way too high to be denied  a service that I had before, only now for it to be no longer available. What is the update regarding the usage of NBC's live extra app through cox and why has no one from cox responded to this problem?

Ignore.

The solution for me was to uninstall and reinstall the NBC sports live extra app on the ipad and then after that, the cox provider option to sign in became available.

I too was viewing NBC extra for a couple of years then all of a sudden they went to a limited viewing time for the Sunday night games and with the commercials it was even less time than they said you were getting.  Now can't get it at all.  What gives?? What happened to discontinue this feature.  I think it's the very least I should be able to get out off my sky-high cable bill.

Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work. Cox is still not listed as a provider.

What's incredibly frustrating is the fact that I was in the middle of a game (to be clear: it worked at first)... and while in the middle of streaming, it cuts me out, requires a log in and out of the HUNDREDS of cable providers listed, only COX is not listed. Then upon clicking on the "service provider is not listed" link, the dialog box says that my cable service provider is not authorized to view NBC sports. This is really unacceptable for a major cable provider when every single no name provider is listed.

This sounds like the exact same excuse Cox uses for not being able to use the Showtime app. Cox is by far the most expensive service in my area, and has the most licensing or issues like this. I'm missing Sunday Night football now, and it's time to switch to AT&T U-Verse like the rest of my neighbors and friends. I don't know if they are incompetent or too cheap to pay up, but I'm sick of it.

The green check mark saying that the problem has been solved isn't correct. The question has been answered but the problem has not been solved. Becky K says "we hope to get this resolved very soon !"

How long is very soon, after the football season? We all pay our hard earned money to Cox to be our cable and internet provider, it seems like we should be able to use a service that has been available to us in the past.

Come on Cox, get this fixed ASAP.

Becky, You are absolutely wrong and this thread should not be marked solved. According to NBCSN, "Cox has not signed up to provide NBC streaming, but they are still providers for content airing on NBCSN and GC". Source: https://twitter.com/LiveExtra/status/511311732477018112 When is Cox going to provide this very basic service as little dinky cable providers all across the country are doing. You can see them all listed, just not Cox. Tomgunn

Hi tomgunn,

NBC has to allow permission to access this feature. We are in negotiation and both parties agree to keep the negotiations private. Customers are notified, as soon as we are, in their statement of any service or channel updates.
