My netgear router is throttling my connection speed (Ultimate 150)

Hi, I'm so tired of getting the run around from cox support and spending hours searching google for my problem.  There must be somebody out there who can actually help me and not just say "buy a new router".  I have a netgear wndr3400v2 dual channel 2.4 GHZ/5 GHZ wifi router.  The router is under 1 year old so isn't out of date.  firmware is uptodate.  There is no problem with the wifi connection.  The problem is that when I connect the PC directly to the modem (cisco DPC3010) I get download speeds in excess of 190 Mbps (impossible according to the cox "tech"" but I do .. hence no complaints; except that when I connect through the LAN socket 1 on the router I only get speeds of 94 Mbps.  That means that the router is somehow throttling the speed by 100 Mbps!  All the cox techs just say "It's a router problem and nothing to do with us".  Netgear are about as easy to contact as the dear departed and are no help either.  Help!  I can't just keep buying routers till I get one that doesn't slow my connection!  Any real help would be gratefully received and thanks in advance.  Speeds are checked on cox speed check and speedtest.net and are consistent, fast direct to modem, slow through router.

No problem. The reason I mention it is because you will never get full speed through a router, there will always be some loss of speed, the question is how much. If the speed from the modem is 150Mbps+ then I would look for maybe 130Mb+ wired and wireless would depend very much on condition in your area.

With that said, if your looking to break the 100Mbps threshold, then I would need to know your general price point before making a suggestion. My default suggestion is the RT-N66U, but that's my personal router, so I am partial and a nerd, so probably has more bells and whistles then you need.

Yea, unfortunatly there isn't anything you can do to get faster LAN speed then 10/100 on that router. That is the technical limit of the port as per specs. If your looking for faster then 100Mbps you will need a router with Gigabit WAN and LAN ports. I wouldn't call 94Mbps slow though. Is there something your doing that requires more bandwidth then that?

Thank you very much for your quick reply.  Is there a reasonably priced wifi router that would fit the bill?  I do realize that 94 Mbps isn't slow, but I do pay for and have delivered to my door (so too speak) a 150 Mbps service and wish to take full advantage of it.  Thanks once again for your trouble.

Thanks mate, I've gone for this router

TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 Wireless N750 Dual Band Router, Gigabit, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5Ghz 450Mbps, 2 USB port, Wireless On/Off Switch and it has 1 WAN and 4 gigabit LAN ports.  A good deal from amazon!  I'll give you a heads up on the speeds when it is up and running.  Thanks once again for your help, but I'm still pissed at the cox techs as they could just as easy told me about the 10/100 situation.  I suppose they are just going through the motions with a set script and aren't really "techies"
