My Laptop Won't Connect to My WIFI
My laptop is not connecting to my home WIFI. All of my other wireless devices connect with no problem. I took my laptop to a computer repair place and they showed me how my laptop connects to their WIFI immediately.
I can see my WIFI on my laptop I get an error when trying to connect. The only thing that is different is that I had to restore my laptop back to factory settings which I thought could be the problem. It doesn't seem to be since the computer repair place can connect with no problem.
Any ideas what's going on?

For example:
- What is the manufacture/model number for your laptop and router?
- Has your laptop ever connected to your home network before?
- Have there been any updates to the laptops software? Or anti-virus program?
- What is your Anti-virus program?
- What is the operating system on your laptop?
- What security does your router use (WEP, WPA, WPA2)?
- Have you added any firewall software to your computer recently?
If you are comfortable with making changes to your laptops network settings, you could try removing your Router's Network from your current list of wireless networks. Click on your wifi icon near the clock, then open Network and Sharing Center, on the left select Manage Wireless Networks, then select your network and click remove. Restart the router, then the laptop, then check to see if your laptop sees your home network, then try to reconnect and re-enter your network key etc.

In addition to the information Michael requested, what error are you receiving? Are you sure you are entering the correct password/PSK for your network? More details will really help.

Mike thanks for the response. What I don't understand is that when the computer repair guy had it, it connected to their WIFI during the boot up process. They did not have to enter or do anything. With that in mind what would be different from one WIFI to the the other?

Allen it's just telling me that it can't connect and asks me if I want to troubleshoot.

The repair facility may have an unsecured WiFi connection for testing, yours is probably secured. They don't require entry of a PSK (password) while yours does. After you first sign on to your network, the laptop saves the PSK you entered so you don't need it the next time you connect. When you did the factory reset, you removed the saved PSK so it requires entry one more time ... after you successfully sign on to your network, it will save it and you won't have to enter it again. Unless, you reset again. HTH
