I moved my modem and router to another room and it worked at ok speeds then it was moved back to where it was. Then again we moved it back to where it was the second time and the internet got .1 down 10 up and 40 ping makes no sense. I tried using different cords as well as modems and different routers and i still cant find the issue. I tried other sockets too. I just cant wrap my head around the fact that it worked fine in the same place before for 3 days I would really appreciate a response and a solution. Thanks

First, what speeds do you get if you bypass the router in the new location?
Also, is there any relevant backstory to the moving of the devices? Like construction on the house or changing of any of the wiring?
Last, what are the modem's signal levels in the new location? You can usually find them on the 192.168.100.1 webpage, if not, just tell me what kind of modem (model number) you have and I can give specifics.

I appreciate the quick response. I get the same speeds with or without the router. Yes the signal doesnt reach in some places in the house also the new location needs a wired connection to pc.The modem is an Arris model no. Is TM502G . Thanks!

You can find the signal levels at 192.168.100.1 website, then click on "Status", but just need the stuff under RF paremeters. Should look like this. Then post the results with the modem in the new location. Take note of any long wiring or cable splitters in that room.
Also, do you have Cox telephone as well as internet? I ask because the TM502G is a phone/internet modem, which may complicate where you can put the modem since it will either need to be near a phone jack, or a cordless phone.
How are you measuring speed by the way? Cox's test? Speedtest.net?
