Modem-Router renewal

Hello,

I have the old netgear cg3000d. My internet is 15mbps download. 2-4 devices connected. Streaming or gaming only rarely.

I want to buy a modem-router {has to be with cable connection} and wanted to ask what is better for me. All of the list below is good, but the price range is huge and I'm not looking for spending unnecessary money:

Stay with the Netgear cg3000d    60$

Motorola {arris} sbg6700              80$

Netgear N300                               100$

Netgear N600                               125$

Thank you for your help :)

Hi R***H,

We would not be able to recommend a specific gateway (modem/router combo).  The last two items on the list are actually stand-alone routers.  You would need a cable modem in addition to those pieces of equipment.

Are you having a problem with your current cg3000d?  What is your reason for wanting to buy a new gateway?  Since you say 15Mbps down you are on the Essential plan, not getting very slow speeds on Preferred or above.  If you plan on staying with the Essential plan any of the above will work.  The more expensive gateways add faster WiFi transfer and dual band (2.4 & 5GHz) capability.  But any one should be able to handle 15Mbps over WiFi.  If you plan on upgrading your service, a dual band unit may be a good investment.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have no problem with the cg3000d. I'm renting it at the moment and I'd like to buy my own.

My question was if I should buy the same one I have now or upgrade to a better and newer one...

Here is a link to Cox Compatible modems - http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=b2ec95d0-7ef9-11df-5590-000000000000.  If you are happy with the CG3000D I would not deter you from buying that one.  It really depends on what you will be using the service for.  But it sounds like that one is a good fit.
