MoCA Issues: 40 Channels Lost - Tivo Bolt & TiVo Bridge
MoCA works, but when it's turned on almost 40 channels are lost. I've read/followed instructions and tried restarting/disconnecting everything multiple times (including WiFi & Modem), even changing the cable splitter. Nothing changes. WiFi streaming works fine. But as soon as I turn on MoCA the channels are lost. Seems random. Other COX boxes/TV fine. I think it's the CC and/or TA. Always had issues in the past (missing channels) w/ CC, but not this time. Only w/ MoCA now. The only thing not installed is a POE filter, but why would that make a difference? MoCA works.
Equipment:
TiVo Bolt (COX Motorola CableCard)
Tuning Adapter
TiVo Bridge
Channels Lost Following Initial Set Up w/ CableCard Pairing/Tuning Adapter:
1022*
1061*
* Regained channels after a couple restarts.

If you haven't installed the PoE filter yet that could be a problem. The filter doesn't make MoCA work but rather it prevents MoCA from interfering with other services and ultimately leaking into our network and affecting other customers. -

I was going to try it [POE filter] but it doesn't make any sense as to why it would help this situation. I hope it does. But if it doesn't help... then what? I'm also going to pick up a couple more CableCards, as well as another Tuning Adapter, just to make sure it's not related to those.
From TiVo:
MoCA POE Filter. A MoCA (Multimedia over Coax) "Point of Entry" filter is designed to prevent MoCA signals from leaving your home through the cable box or radiating out of an antenna, and may improve the performance of a MoCA home network. Install it at the point of entry of your antenna or cable line into your home.
Nothing about preventing loss of channel signals.

I did also see Tivo guides that say when this happens you may need another filter for the tuning adapter. Keep in mind that MoCA interferes with cable service if not correctly installed. With that in mind it makes sense you would lose services when enabling MoCA.

ok... I'll try PoE filter as mentioned; at entry to house and at TA.
The TA was suppose to come with a POE according to instructions on COX but it's a different TA set up.

I just discovered that MoCA w/ TiVo Bolt requires a specific type of PoE w/ 70-80dB rejection - meaning their own TiVo PoE filter. How convenient!

Does it matter that the coax cable is from wall>tuning adapter>tivo instead of from wall>splitter>TA/tivo as shown with TiVo’ Tuning Adapter Installation?
https://support.tivo.com/articles/Features_Use/How-to-Install-a-Tuning-Adapter-for-Switched-Digital-Video
i also realized that the USB cable needs to be connected to top input. Not sure what it affected if anything.

The info I saw suggested that the PoE filter be installed as close to the point of entry as possible and one at the the SDV adapter if necessary.

Yes, I got that. But what about the Tuning Adapter installation instructions. My Tuning Adapter has In and Out. Does it matter if it’s daisy chained or split to TA and TiVo? What is SDV?
i haven’t had a chance to inspect the cable TV entry box yet. There’s most likely an old splitter or two and maybe a signal booster.

This is the part where I would have to defer to Tivo support for a knowledgable answer. If the box needs to use MoCA to communicate with other devices that will fail should the filter end up in the path between them. If this is a problem you may need to modify the wiring to suit your needs.

The cable drop box is a mess and I can't figure out which one is the incoming line. Here's what I found:
1 x 4-way spliiter
1 x 2-way splitter
1 x booster
I'm trying to insert more pictures but it won't upload after selecting with browser. Only one time.

Not sure which one is the incoming cable. Also, do you think the booster is/can cause issue with MoCA? And should I replace the splitters? They look rather old and are rated to 1000Mhz. TiVo Bridge/MoCA requires 1650MHz, even though it works, except for almost 40 channel signals being lost.
I wonder how much it would cost to have COX Tech visit and replace splitters and cables at box from drop cable?

All of our equipment is rated for 5-1000Mhz. If you require something different that would have to be acquired via other channels.

Gave up. Nothing worked. I read/followed instructions and tried every conceivable set up w/ PoE filters, restarting everything multiple times w/ cable and network, also replacing splitters and cables, and MoCA would not work. With both PoE filters in place (at drop box/entry to house and at/before Tuning Adapter) MoCA had no connection/internet, and also no IP most times, and even if it did, it still did not work. I tried removing PoE filter at Tuning Adapter but no change. Funny how I lose almost 40 channel signals w/o PoE filters but MoCA works, yet w/ PoE filters in place as everyone/thing says to have, there's no loss of signals but MoCA doesn't work. Wi-Fi works. A complete waste of time and money. Hard to imagine no one else with similar problem too, yet no other replies.
