Mini Box

Our TV is a wall mount set-up, without any video cabinets or shelves near by.

I'm looking for suggestions to hook up the mini box.

The Mini is tiny, 4.5" W x 3.5" D x 1" H and has an RF remote, so just mount it to the back of the TV.  Use Velcro or purchase a Streaming Device mounting kit and retrofit it.

Using an active HDMI cable, such as the RedMere cables from Monoprice, you can make an HDMI run up to 65feet.  As long as you can snake the cable through the wall, you can place the box almost anywhere.

Hi Dutch5820, I finally wall mounted my TV set and ran the cables through the wall to hide them. The mini-box is light enough that you could use velcro if you want. Just remember the box is Cox property, so you don't want to adhere anything to it that you cannot remove easily.  Same thing goes if you use a mounting kit.

I used velcro but the top horizontal edge of the TV is very narrow for it to stick.

In order for the remote to work I understand there needs to be a clear line between the mini box end the remote?

You mentioned a mounting kit. Do you have a suggestion where to find a mounting kit?

Thanks

The link you provided does not show a mounting kit.

Do you have a link for a mounting kit?

Thanks

My minibox definitely has an IR remote, not RF.  The manual clearly states: "If you want to keep your mini box out of sight and still use your mini box remote control to change channels and volume, you’ll need to use an IR Extender. You may pick up an IR Extender for each mini box at no charge at your local Cox Solutions Store."

The minibox Cox is using, at least in the CT market, is an Evolution DMS-2344UHDS, not the DMS-2002 in your link.  It has an IR IN jack between the CH 3/4 switch and the HDMI port.

But as it says, you can use a free IR extender.

The DMS2344 has a RF remote option, but I do not believe Cox is utilizing that option.

Cox lists both mini remote models RF and IR:

Yes, but the info that I was given was that the RF option would only be used in commercial applications. Sure would solve my problem - let me watch TV while my 8642 records two programs with the two remotes not interfering with each other.
