Mini Box vs. TV Internal Digital Tuner
Why does Cox need to force these Mini Boxes (with the $1.99 fee) on every customer. What have we been buying High Definition TV's with internal digital tuners for all these years.
Can someone please explain why a TV's internal digital (ATSC or QAM) tuner cannot provide the necessary reception of Cox's all digital signal. After all, my current cable line is broadcasting digital that I am able to "Tune" into, or I can put an antenna on any one of those TV's and pick up the Over-The-Air DIGITAL signal from the local broadcasters.
I DON'T GET IT!!!

If you read any of the posts on the subject you would see it isn't the digital signal but the fact Cox is encrypting all channels. Your digital tuner can receive QAM signals but can't decrypt it unless it supports a cable card. Your options, a mini box, a HD STB or an OTA antenna.

With ClearQAM signals quickly disappearing, I wonder how long TV manufacturers will continue to include QAM tuners?

It is just Cox's way of getting another rate increase without calling it a rate increase.
I wish the mini box actually worked!

It's really not. It's a way for Cox to free up a ton of bandwidth for other things like faster Internet speeds. Cox is the last major cable provider who even still uses analog, all the others have already made the switch to an all digital format.
I for one will be glad when this is all over with because my Ultimate Internet will likely be increased to 300 Mbps once they have the extra bandwidth.

If you are going to argue non-factual nonsense, please do so logically. [Is that even possible?]
