Mini Box Power Drain

Does anyone know the power consumption of the mini box?

Does the mini box have a low power mode when turned off?

I noticed the green light on my mini box never turns off. Is that normal?

Which mini box do you have? The stats for the DMS2004UHDS show a usage of 5V @ 1.5amps, which equates to 7.5watts, which is a little bit more then a night light, or a little less then a AA battery. Thats only the DC output, not sure how to calculate the AC input to see what the AC>DC waste is. Anyone here a better electrician then I?

The best way to figure out the power consumption is to measure it with a meter.

My mini box runs hot compared with my roku streaming player. That device uses very little power.

How green are the devices that stream Netflix & Hulu?

Thanks for reply.

Which mini-box?

The Cisco DTA250HD uses 5.27w when on, and 5.24w when "off." Energy Star calculates YEARLY power as 46.06kw.

You are confusing the U.L rated input power with the actual used input power. Where did you get those numbers? If it's off of a device, they are UL rated numbers. Energy Star measured the functionally identical DMS2004UHD at 6.3w on, and 5.5w when off.

I found the test results on the energystar.gov site.

Test Results On Mode Power: 6.32 Watts
Test Results Sleep Mode Power: 6.31 Watts
Total Energy Consumption: 55 kWh/yr

Energy Star, Search: DMS2344UHDS
http://www.energystar.gov/

Average Price of Electricity: $0.089/kWh (Louisiana)
Total Price for Mini Box: $4.90/yr

My mini box uses 3 times the power of my roku streaming player.

Thanks for replies.

they pawned the evolution mini boxes off on me at first & they ran HOT! fischer price (which could have done a better production job) would not have been allowed to operate that hot.

i have noticed that my cisco boxes are not nearly as hot.

i do resent having 2 (TWO) things draining power at the same time instead of one and right when out electricity bills are going up! (4 tiers to two in a year) so it's going to be hard to tell how much of a drain they are.
