Manage profile -> Manage Users
Please change this confusing and frustrating issue with the user profile management.
What Happens: I tried to add my wife to my list of registered users for my account via Manage Profile -> Manage Users
I added my wife's name
We verified its on there as a registered user
I leave for work
The net goes down
She calls Cox, they tell her she is NOT on the account and therefore she cannot do anything.
Cox tells her that I need to call them. She argues that we ADDED her name to my account via the "Manage Users" option on my profile.
Cox tells my wife that the Manage Users option does NOT actually add users to my account. That she is actually added to something about my EMAIL users list. I am like "What? That makes no sense whatsoever." So according to the phone tech I cannot actually ADD users to my account via the Cox.net website ->Manage Profiles. Why even have a profile page? You cannot do anything meaningful to the account at all. You cannot do anything about the phone number associated with the account, but you can change the pin? You cannot add people as users to the account but you can ad them to some email user list? How does that make sense?
Which is why I think this option on the Cox.net profile page needs to reflect this to avoid the massive frustration this caused me and my wife. The option is deceitful and completely misleading.

ALSO. I cannot actually see who is a registered user for my account at all. WHAT? Seriously? Why is this a mystery? I could have 50 people registered to my account and never know about it! All the phone techs ask for is my last four of my SSI and its not hard to find those! How is this security!

Click on the "?" in the AUTHORIZED USERS section. It clearly defines what additional authorized users can and cannot do. No confusion here, IMO.

That's still misleading because it only talks about stuff that can be done online only.
Maybe they should update it with what if anything authorized users can do on the phone.

Hi Ray,
First, let me apologize for the way your wife was treated when she called regarding internet connectivity. Cox Technical Support can troubleshoot technical issues with anyone in the household. We can provide account info or make account changes only with Authorized Users on the account.
Cox differentiates between the Account Holder, Authorized Users, and Digital Identities. It sounds like you set up a digital identity for your wife, rather than adding her as an Authorized User. I apologize for this confusion! You can find more information about Cox identities, click HERE.
In order to protect your privacy as well as to comply with government regulations, customers must speak with a Cox Customer Service representative to have an Authorized User added to your account. To find your local phone number for Customer Support, choose your location from the drop-down menu on the Contact Us page.
