Long Time Loyal Customer

Why doesn't cox offer longtime customers some type of great upgrade choices as 1st time customers?

Because sales metrics are all about new customers. There is no incentive to keep customers just incentives to get new ones each month even if they're the same ones that cancelled last month because that's a new customer.

Also there is a significant lack of competition; sure there's DSL or wireless internet but neither of those can really compete at the cost vs performance level of cable and if there's no fiber option in your area then COX essentially has a legal monopoly.

Like most service providers, you could spend a significant amount of time complaining and "abusing"/using the system to get discounts to more reasonable pricing. In my experience, however, the amount of time spent exceeds the amount of money saved and as such I have given up and await the day when there will be competition to drive the market.

Hope this helps...

It's not just the lack of competition, but also a huge amount of deception, such as leaving out all the unlisted charges, taxes, and hidden fees. AKA , false advertising!! Cox will someday get what's coming to them, just as South Central Bell aka AT&T did. We'll see who gets the last laugh.

Their lawyers have gone through the agreements pretty thoroughly. I have yet to see a case of false advertising or blatant lying. This is not to say it hasn't/doesn't happen; simply that I have yet to see any evidence of such activity.

If you do have proof of such activity you are likely better off talking to a lawyer before posting further here.

Just a thought..

Because cox doesn't care about it's customers, they just want their money and they'll lie and twist things around to take advantage of people to get it if that's what it takes.

Cox does not care. I finally cancelled my cable after 30 plus years of cable service. The customer service rep could care less and did not even inquire as to why. Got a much better deal for half the price with more features. Loyalty just ran out.

GOOD Riddance !!!!

I have asked them that question.....they have no good answer. No good deals for long time loyal customers.

Oh, bull. You either a) didn't ask to speak to a Customer Resolution Specialist, or b) aren't really a long time customer. By doing "a", I had over $40 taken off of my monthly bill. They are called "promotions", and no - they are not permanent. Usually 6 months.
