EdK,

Is this in the Cox Speed test at http://bit.ly/CoxSpeedTest ? If that site isn't working try http://www.cox.com/residential/internet/speed-test.cox  It won't document to your account, but the test should still run. Let me know your result.

That test doesn't have a valid license. Looks like Cox didnt pay for the renewal:

Expired License

The license for this Speedtest® has expired.

Please contact the webmaster of this site to let them know.

The license key that has been loaded by the Speedtest® (found in the settings file on the server) is not valid due to the expiration date being passed. You will need to contact Ookla to make sure that your account is current and you have your most recent license key.

Heatlh Edge, Are you referring to the direct link or the bit.ly link getting the renewal error?

Not a renewal error. But specifally a license error from http://bit.ly/CoxSpeedTest

Insert pictures doesn't seem to be working right now so see link of screen shot.

Documentation link brings you to http://www.ookla.com/support/a22010491/troubleshooting#license04

Notice the "null@" for login. That isn't edited, thats what shows ups even though I am logging in with a cox.net email registered to this profile. If I login with my other email address (attached to another IDM account) I get the Providence RI market and get the latency error.

The newer speedtest works fine and I am having no problems with speed. If I had to guess, Cox isn't renewing the licenses on the old Ookla servers because they have the new test. The reason you are unable to replicate the latency error is not all markets use the same servers, so it looks like only some have expired. The market is tied to where your email address is provisioned.

Also, I think the two errors (latency and license) are probably caused by the same thing, just some servers aren't configured to say the licence is expired. Instead the servers just don't respond, and thus the latency test fails.

I've had this latency error only from the Cox web site speed test link for months here in the Tulsa market. Never receive it from any other speed test sites.

@kenneymcc

The latency error you're seeing is something our network team is aware of however no estimated time of repair has been offered.

Network team is incompetent if its taking this long to fix the problem IMO. Either that or they are only giving you lip service and not working on the issue. Is it possible Cox just doesn't want to pay for the secondary license?

Seems like there is a problem with management rather than technicians now days with their failing to negotiate proper agreements with their providers. Licensing agreements for speed test, On Demand movies disappearing, On Demand TV shows not accessible in a timely manner, Perhaps management is too busy spending their overpaid salaries on other activities than those of us who only have the internet and tv for our entertainment.
