Las Vegas Pref Speed?

Upgraded 9 mo. ago to Modem- Motorola SB6121 and Router- Linksys EA3500 in Las Vegas with Preferred, but under My Account Services, the modem is listed as RGI6121 if that matters...

I think it's Chris(Forum Mod) that seems to help everyone, so can you check our speeds and fix them please?

Downloads are slow! I don't know why. The silly data usage tool chart shows barely using 25% of the total I've got available every month, is that odd? Does that have to do with the speed, I assume not.

I own the equipment, and recently changed from my longtime service w/Cen. Link home phone to your Digital Phone, but that Modem is separate and provided by Cox.

It didn't change the speed for the internet/network if you're thinking it may be the culprit.  Thanks!

p.s. I'm an auth. user on everything, billing too, but, will that be a problem communicating back and forth for specs and config, if you can help?

What are your speeds now? I would suggest testing wired from PC to modem and using the test under Internet Tools after signing into Cox.net

"My Account Services, the modem is listed as RGI6121 if that matters..."

This is normal. What your seeing is the name that Cox gives the modem in their system. They add the R for retail so they know it's not a Cox owned modem.

"The silly data usage tool chart shows barely using 25% of the total I've got available every month, is that odd?"

Nope, not odd. Think of it like the gas meter on your car, if you don't drive alot, the gas tank will take longer to use. The bandwidth meter is to let you judge when your about to run out of bandwidth.

p.s. I'm an auth. user on everything, billing too, but, will that be a problem communicating back and forth for specs and config, if you can help?

That shouldn't be a issue. We wouldn't even be able to discuss anything about your account publically anyway. Basic technical support is available to whom ever. Happy to help.

I did take a look and nothing unusual is standing out from this end.  I'd suggest starting with the basics and testing with a PC direct to the modem and going from there.
