Just upgraded my Docsis 2.0 to a Docsis 3.0 Modem

Hello,

We had a tech out on the 16th to look at a problem with our internet.  He had to change some of the connectors to get the range correct and then also stated that it would be best to upgrade our modem to a Docsis 3.0.  So after he left I got a new Docsis 3.0 modem from Cox they got it all setup in the system, now all that was left was to get it hooked up at home.  Get it the modem hooked up and everything was fine for about 4 hours, I was getting better than average speeds both up and down.  I log off for the night and get up the next day and my speed has gone down the toilet for downstream, but still getting great upload speeds.  The old modem was a Motorola SB5120 and the new Modem is a Cisco DCP3010.

If there is anything you could do to help I would appreciate it.

Run a speed test a couple of times a day for a few days through cox.com and then contact tech support. I believe all of the speed tests are stored and the rep should be able to see the test results.

Hi Crankster,

We can take a look at the signal levels on our end as well, you can e-mail us the account information (name and address) at coxhelp@cox.com. Are you connected to a router? I am curious what the download/upload speeds are with and without the computer connected directly.
