Just bought a DVR; "DVR Network" is greyed out on all the other cable boxes.
Is there something special I need to do to get the other boxes to recognize that I added a DVR? "DVR Network" is greyed out in the settings, and when I attempt to pause, record, or rewind on the other boxes I get an error stating that a DVR subscription is required, which I already have. I tried unplugging and replugging all the boxes in the house to no avail, starting with the DVR followed by the rest of the boxes.
Might it have something to do with the fact that the DVR the COX store gave me is running out-of-date software? It's still using the ugly old interface while all the other boxes have the nice shiny blue interface. How do I force an update? It's been a few days since I've installed the box and it still hasn't updated yet.
Maybe I have to call COX to get the other boxes to recognize the DVR? I refuse to pay someone to come out and fix it; I am very tech savvy, and anything an installer can do I can do.
If someone could please point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

You need to have your home wired for Whole Home DVR (WHDVR.) This includes wiring all of your STBs according to WHDVR specs, adding a POE filter to the input of your system, notifying Cox that you have a WHDVR network. Cox insists that a tech performs all of this, and will charge you ($60) for it. And yes, your DVR must be running Contour for a IPG. So, you must have a newer DVR (oldest one capable of running Contour is the Cisco 8642HDC.) Do all of this, and your "grayed-out" options will no longer be so.

We can research this issue further and provide some troubleshooting steps as well. I would like to take a look at the account and see what equipment is being used. Can you please send an email to cox.help@cox.com, please provide the name and address listed on the account? Thanks!
