Internet Tools Data Usage Meter
A few months back, Cox was updating the daily Data Usage Meter every 36 - 48 hours. I live by the Data Usage Meter to gauge my daily usage. It got better March / April, but is now again taking over 24 hours to update. All I can say is if I go over my monthly allotment, it won't be my fault.
The Data Usage Meter must be updated by at least 15 hours post midnight.
And further, the email has been "clunky" lately. If I can't get it with my app, I just log on to cox and find it with the email tab. At least I can read my emails that way.

I'm not the OP, but the same thing is happening to me in Connecticut.
I go to check data usage, and get the message: "Your Data Usage Meter is undergoing maintenance and your usage may not be current. Please try again in 24 hours."
The last date showing for me is April 17, so that data is at least 3 days old. So much for the "every 24 hours theory".
EDITED TO ADD: I've also cleared cache on Firefox, and tried another browser and computer. Same results. :(

I don't live by the Data Meter but I do check it everyday. Here in the San Diego market it updates by Noon the next day except for one or two occasions I can recall since Cox changed it all up late last year.
I'm a fairly heavy streamer and downloader. I can easily estimate my own usage to within +/- 5%. From the habits you describe I'm sure you can as well. And nothing is going to happen if you go over The Cap.
Sure, we all would like every bit of technology to bow to our every whim and wish, and to perform flawlessly, or at least as advertised, 100% of the time. Not going to happen. Ever.
