1. How many data streams does Cox internet have to offer. My modem supports 8, thinking of upgrading to the Nighthawk 1900 modem ? wifi router... it states that it can process 24....???

All Cox markets are configured to support 8 downstream channels; many markets can support 12 channels, and a few have 16. Regardless of the modem's channel-bonding capability, the modem will only bond with what is available. DOCSIS 3.0 devices with 8 x 4 channels can support consistent speeds of up to 150 Mbps.
While the Netgear Nighthawk model R700 looks fantastic, it isn't on the list of Cox Compatible modems found at http://bit.ly/CoxCompatibleModemList. If you are drawn to the Nighthawk based on all of the networking capabilities it offers, you might be more satisfied with a stand-alone modem and stand-alone router rather than a Gateway.
