Internet Price Increases Feb 2013

Just got my Feb 2013 eBill and noticed (another surprise) internet price increase. (For all speeds).

The Bad news: My "Essentials" connection bill went up $2 a month. The Good news: Speetest.net reports my Internet speed has increased from 3Mbps to 5Mbps. In my case the $2 increase for the 5Mbps seems reasonable. Although the new $41.99 rate may cause me to consider other options.

I suggested to Cox Billing support that they could save money (and reduce rates?) by eliminating the flood of marketing offers in my USPS mailbox by allowing me to "Opt out" somewhere in the Profile Preferences screens.

Question: Why the Billing sneak attacks? Why hide any speed increase benefit?

I regret any misunderstands, as you notice there was a rate increase however it also came with a service level increase.  Notices went out in bills prior to this last one.

Please note: I am on "paperless" billing. I get an email (which unfortunately does not simply state the $amount and due date) which means I must access the web site for details. So, I click on the email link which gives the Billing overview. In my opinion, this is where advance "important" news should be shown. Until now, I didn't feel a need to view each bill in detail.

eCustomers should know/beware they will have to open each month's .PDF bill to see this hidden news. In my case, finding/opening the January .PDF bill was the first hint of a "unstated' price increase. This month's Feb bill shows the same "news" but nowhere can I find reference to my "Essential" internet speed details.

Question: Where exactly can I see my account's "Essential" speed details?

I believe it does appear on the PDF version of the bill.  You can view information about your Internet features/services by signing in at http://www.cox.com and clicking Internet.
