Is there some way I can turn off the internet without unplugging the modem? I am trying to control the available internet time in my home because my son will wake up in the middle of the night and game. If I just unplug the router, of course he can just plug it back in. I am wondering what parental control I have over setting a timer for internet usage.

Most routers let you establish a schedule for internet activity. What router or gateway do you have, you may already have that capability built-in. Is you son's device wired or wireless?

A simple work around might be a coaxial A/B switch somewhere hidden on the cable that goes to the modem. Switch it to B to turn the modem off. Getting one that doesn't hinder your internet signal would be the trick. Maybe this one? A internet schedule would be better if your router/gateway has it.
