I'm stuck with a broken Contour DVR! When is Cox going to provide recording transfers from one DVR to another!

I'm stuck with a broken Contour DVR that can only output an analog signal. The HDMI output stopped working. I have 100's of hours of recordings, which I paid for and I don't want to lose. Since Cox does not provide the oh so seemingly technically simple service of transferring recordings, I'm stuck with the option of continuing with inferior quality or losing the recordings. When will Cox provide this service. I'm waiting!

Please don't reply with technical reasons why it can't be done. This is not a question of technology. Its about Cox not providing a reasonable complementary technical service to their customers.

I just called Cox this morning and was told that I can purchase (from Cox) an external drive to transfer recording from one Contour DVR (9865HDC) to another. I highly doubt that will work. From other forum post, looks like the external drive is not compatible with the 9865HDC at all. Does anyone know any different?

??? So, it's not about technology, it's about technology? [BTW, it's the DVR manufacturer at fault here, not the cable company.]

No, it's about Cox rolling out it's advance DVR service (Contour program) with missing services. If the manufacture of this device doesn't offer it, then Cox should have either insisted on them providing it, or moved on to another manufacture. We're not talking rocket science here. And it's not like they just rolled this out. How long has Contour (and their other large capacity DVR) been out?

what cable company allows the back of recorded content none that I know and the external drives would be married/tied the the hard drive it the dvr and will be erased if attached to a new dvr.  It the content providers not cox that do not want to allow a way to back up programs.
