I am very new to this, please help me understand "network lineup not available"
I live in Phoenix, Arizona and am wondering if anyone can help me understand an email I received from Cox Communications today. The email stated that a network that Cox usually carries on their lineup is not available. Enclosed in the email, they provided a link to www.coxcommitment.com for details, but when I click on this link, it is just shows a bunch of "gibberish". I am worried what services are or may not be available would like to know what this issue is affecting (TV, phone, or Internet). Also, if anyone knows of a valid webpage in which I can check on this "network outage".
I am not what you would call 'tech savvy". I decided to give this Forum a try, because it is late, and my grand kids(aka my IT department, LOL) are asleep, so I am at a loss to understand what is happening in "grandma terms" .
Any one that could tell me if they also received a similar email, and to possibly translate it, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a pleasant evening.

Do you watch CBS? Will you be watching the Superbowl? If not, then don't worry about it.
CBS sells the rights to broadcast through local affiliates, aka Nexstar. Kind of like if you start a Domino's Pizza restaurant, you have to pay Dominos a fee. With cable, these groups then sell the rights to air the show to broadcasters like Cox or Dish Network. These rights are written into a contract, setting the price Cox has to pay for a certian time. One of those affiliates in AZ contract with Cox is up, and they are taking this time to renegotiate a rate that is 3 times higher then last time. If Cox has to pay, then they will have to increase everyone's bill, not just the people who watch CBS.
There isn't much you can do if you do watch CBS. You could change providers to one who has agreed to pay the extra money. Also you can vote for Cox to pay the money. Go here and fill out everything below "We'd Like to Know what You Think".

CBS 5 - KPHO, in Phoenix is not impacted, It is owned by a different company, the Meredith Corporation.
In Phoenix, AZ the only station impacted is "The CW" Network - KASW - Cox Channel 6 and 1006 and 61.1 ClearQAM & OTA.
All of the CW programming is available on Hulu or with an Antenna.

Ahh, my apologies for the confusion. With all the CBS related posts I thought it was that.
