How to Connect Two Routers on a Home Network ?
I have one wireless router/firewall connected to cable modem upstairs, and then second wired router in basement connected to first router using PowerEthernet. Unfortunately Powerline boxes I am using are not fast enough, do you have any ideas what else to use instead of PowerEthernet ?
Ethernet cable is probably not an option until I figure out the path/conduct between these two spots.. I might have not used telephone wires (not sure where they go;)

Unfortunately that is a setup that we do not support so I would not be able to advise you on connecting 2 routers together. Although it may actually work, that is not something that we would assist you with.
If you wanted to avoid having 2 routers you could try moving the router to a central location in the home. Ethernet ports in the home would be good for the computers that are far away from the router, you would not have to worry about wireless signal issues.

Where you looking for specifics? If so, what kind of hardware do you have? Also, what are your priorites? Ease of install? Price? Performance?
In general, you "might" be able to set up the 2nd router as a repeater, but it will depend on it's capability. Also, if set up that way you would be halfing your wireless speed, just by default. You might be able to use MoCA but you would need to make sure the frequencies didnt interfere with any other equipment you have on the cable line. Ethernet is going to be the fastest and more secure option.
Not sure what you mean by telephone wires. You won't be able to use RJ11 for any networking without investing in some old equipment, and even then it would be much worse then powerline.
