How do I configure my UBEE DDW366 router for Chromecast

I have tried lots of options described in the COX DDW366 user manual and set my WIFI speed to 2.4GHZ but nothing works. Also both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ LEDs o the front of the 366 are lit. My Chromecast dongle sees the network on the 366 but will not connect to it.

Cox is selling Ubee gateways now?

What do you have your wireless security set to?

So even with Security disabled, the Chromecast can see the network, but can't connect? Maybe a issue with the Radio? Try setting it to N only or G only, see if it will connect then. Also, when it tries to connect, does it come back with any kind of error?

Sorry Im not much help, but I don't have any experience with Ubee networking equipment, only Ubee modems on Comcast and I wasn't a fan. Are you renting or did you buy it from Cox?

This problem is NOT solved I am having trouble replying , hopefully this reply works. The new COX special version of the UBEE combination dual speed router and cable modem sees my Chrome wireless dongle and the dongle sees my new network but will not connect. Are you using wireless Chromecast? If yes what router are you using with it?

waltclemente,

Are you having problems connecting other devices to the network? Cox doesn't provide support for Chromecast, but I was able to find a link for Chromecast Router Compatibility on their website. Apparently there are some router settings that can affect the operability of Chromecast. There's a troubleshooter link at the top of the page I linked that might help.

I have no other wireless devices that have trouble connecting to the 366 router. I have read all of the suggestions at the Comcast website and read the compatibility list, which appears to be out of date. I don't know why COX does not want to investigate why a Goggle product does not work with their new product. Also I still would like to know why both the 2.4 and the 5GHZ blue lights are lit on the front of the 366 unit when I only have 2.4GHZ(which is required for Chromecast) selected in the 366.

The link Colleen posted is probably going to be your best resource with regards to router compatibility for Chromecast.  Being that Google makes the Chromecast they would be in the best position to advise as to what routers it is compatible with.  Regarding your question about the lights,  the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz lights on the router indicate what signals the router is broadcasting and in no way indicate what you actually have connected.  Without another device to try unfortunately this will be a difficult issue to isolate.

I have only the 2.4Ghz service enabled on my 366 network so the 5GHz light on the front of the 366 should not be on. The compatibility list available at the Chromecast web site lists both units that are compatible and units that are not compatible. No UBee units are listed probably because they are not sold at retail. The COX DDW 366 is customized by Cox and is unique to cox and it's user guide is published by COX. If Cox does not support Chromecast it is still in their best interest to know if their unit works or not with Chromecast since more and more websites are becoming Chromecast compatible.

I have some updates. I shoul mention that I have two networks in my home, My Android tablet has no trouble using my single Chromecast dongle on my Vizio TV Chromecast aps when my Western Digital N750 router based network is used at 2.4GHZ. It does not work at 5GHZ. Nor does the tablet work with my COX DW366 router at either 2.4Ghz or at 5GHZ. So at least I now know that there is nothing wrong with the wireless Chromecast dongle or with it's configuration. Both the 2.4GHz and the 5Ghz LEDs on the 366 front panel are always on regardless of which speed is currently being used. There is white LED on the lower part of the 366 front panel labeled MoCA which is shown or described in the COX 366 user manual. It is very difficult in fact almost impossible to use your own network name for the SSID or to change your own name back to one that will enable you to switch between 2.4 and 5GHZ speeds. Does anyone if any members of the COX network staff monitor this forum?
