while using a tablet or phone, in the other room approx. 30 feet away, the WiFi will drop out and have no connection. What can be done?

Whats the model number of your router (wireless device).
When you lose the wireless on one computer, do you lose it on others too?
What do you do to fix the issue? Does it reconnect on it's own?

DPQ3925 model #..
yes all devices seem to loose it as well.
it will reconnect if we enter the room where the router is. Strong signal in the computer room but weak in all other rooms.

Another gateway.
Sounds like wireless interference. Thats very hard to troubleshoot without going very technical. Some of it is trial and error, or you need to to scan for the interference via Wireshark or inSSIDer or some other program.
I wish I could help, but since Cox modifies it's firmware from the official release, and then doesn't document it, its very hard to even give instructions.
