Home Network Manager Issues

Hi, I'm trying to access the Cox HOme Network Manager utilizing these "instructions"

But each time I get to the "Internet Tools" page and click the "Get Started" button next to home manager, it simply refreshes the page and doesn't open.

I am on Firefox 29 and I have tried this on IE 10 and Safari 7, all with the same results.

Please help, as this is quite frustrating.

I believe you need to be using a Cox gateway to use that tool. On top of that, I think it runs on Java, so make sure you have that enabled and working.

Also, what were you trying to do with the Network Manager? Everything that can be accessed via that can be accessed direct to the router by its diagnostics UI.

Internet at this location is via a Cox-supplied Cisco DPC3925 gateway. This is on a Core2Duo Macbook Pro with the most current operating systems and Java updates. The other device is a Core2Duo Dell Optiplex running Windows 7 Home Pro. Both are clean and malware free. Both log on to the user forums here. While on the Macbook Pro I attempted to access either of the two Home Networking tools (Home Network Security Check and Home Network Manager) only to discover that The Cox's Home Network Security Check application is Windows-only with a minimum browser requirement of Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Windows I could understand as Cox has a long way to go to even approach minimum Mac support, but to sanction as their minimum browser requirement IE6, a browser is so antiquated as to be laughable from a privacy/security standpoint. As for the remaining 'tool', Home Network Manager, I had an experience similar to the OP (the link led nowhere); on the Mac it added a new tab with the same page (zilch results).

OK, so I figured if it's Windows Cox wants to see it's Windows I'd give 'em.

With the exception of having to install a mandatory ActiveX plugin (another potential security leak, which in this case turned out to be useless) the results were the same as on the Macbook Pro: I was effectively shut out from any benefits of the only two recommended Cox diagnostic tools. Clicking "Get Started" on Home Network Security Check and Home Network Manager do absolutely nothing.

Regardless of what I was trying to do with the use of either of these tools, why even bother displaying them as user aids if they don't function?

What *does* occur, using Internet Explorer 11, or the most recent versions of Firefox and Google Chrome while attemting to access either of these two Cox utilities, is.....nothing.

When I click on Network Security Check's "Get Started" button I get the following:

We're sorry, Cox's Home Network Security Check application requires to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Please try again using a compatible browser.

Maybe you'd consider that an error message?

When clicking on the Home Network Manager's "Get Started" button a new tab is opened with the identical Home Networking with Cox page, basically bringing me back to where I began. Something's obviously in need of repair/refreshing on this page for these utilities. I'm certainly not going to search for an obsolete version of Internet Explorer to install to satisfy my curiosity as to whether these two utilities are worth it. If Cox feels that IE11 doesn't cut it as "or higher" than IE6 enough to run these utilities I'll stick with my Avast, WinPatrol Plus, Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows firewall and Malwarebytes.
