Gone for summer

I am going to Washington for the summer - will be back in October.  Do I turn off my services - tv, internet, phone or what?

Do you want to? Do you have a contract? Not sure what the question is.

I think Jeri wants to suspend the service.  No service over the summer then switch it back on in October.  I don't know if Cox does it.  I chose GEICO because they'd suspend my insurance while I was deployed.  It was a nice gratitude from a company.  But, then again, you know, Cox.

GEICO is a insurance company. If you no longer want to be insured, that's just a matter of documentation. Cox is providing a physical service. You can call them and ask them to stop that service and then later turn it back on, but I don't see why Cox would not charge just because someone is not there.

Is the question if Cox can disconnect service without a technician? Can Cox disconnect service during contract? Only disconnect partial service? Trying to understand the context of the question.

For example, if my insurance policy was effective from January thru June, I would expect a renewal bill sometime in June to cover July thru December.

If I deployed in February for 4 months, GEICO would suspend my policy during my deployment.  Meaning, when I returned in May, GEICO would resume my coverage and send the renewal bill in October.  GEICO wouldn't charge me while my car was unused and only parked at my billing address.  If a tree fell on it while I was gone, however, they'd still cover the damage after my deductible.

Jeri wants to suspend the service...avoid returning equipment...immediately have TV and Internet when she returns...and not have to pay another Initial Fee, Installation Charge, reconnect the equipment and wait for service.  Understand?

I understand the reference, I just didn't think it was a good example. Apple/oranges. You are debating in a attempt to prove your point while I am trying to get information from the OP in order to solve the problem. Perhaps in OP's area there aren't reco fees. Are they more concerned with ETF? Need input...wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?

The back and forth is interesting but as to the matter at hand. A search on cox.com for "suspend service" returned this:

"Away from your Summer home or vacation property for the season? It’s easy to put your Cox services on hold, save on your monthly bill and quickly reactivate when you return with the Cox Seasonal Program."

Sounds good, right? Then click on "Learn more" and you get this:

Call 866-936-1723 or come by a Cox Store to pause your services.

"With the Cox Seasonal Program, you can put your Cox services on hold for as low as $9.99 per month. It's easy to pause your services with the Cox Seasonal Program. There's no need to return your equipment or schedule a technician, and restarting your service is easy. One call and your Cox services will be reactivated the day you return. It'll be like you never left!"

Check out the benefits of the Cox Seasonal Program:

• Choose from convenient plans ranging from 1–9 months

• Enroll in EasyPay and automatically pay your monthly bill via bank account or credit card

• Continue to check your Cox email and voice mail from anywhere

• Special offers available upon your return

Beware when any price they state says "for as low as". It means you'll be paying way more than $9.99/mo. But, hey, it's better than nothing.
