Going all-digital...is a Cox mini box required?
Is a Cox -owned mini box required for all TVs when going all-digital? Or, can I purchase another commercial box and avoid the additional fees that Cox will charge me after the initial period?

A mini box, Advanced Tv receiver or a cablecard will be required for each TV that you want to receive a cable signal. There are no, retail devices which can be purchased to bypass this at this time. Please note, Cox is the last service provider to require a cable box. We held out for our customers as long as we were able to. All other companies switched to boxes only 2 years ago. The analog service takes up a very large amount of bandwidth. By going all-digital that will free up the bandwidth we can use for faster Internet speeds and also to bring many more channels for our customers to choose from. We have to stay competitive in today's market. Sorry for any convenience it may cause you.

Dina, since this statement is often quoted as one justification for going all-digital. Does that mean Cox is going to speed up everybody’s internet without additional charges when transition is complete?

I have seen Ultimate 300 is only available in areas that have had the transition.
