Getting much slower speed on the ultimate plan

Hi there, I recently upgraded my internet plan to ultimate. I was not getting the expected speed because of my old crappy modem. So few days earlier I upgraded my modem to Netgear CM500, which is one of the few 16x4 compatible modems listed on cox's website. Oddly enough I'm still not getting the desired speed, and the speed test capped out at ~70 mbps on both speedtest.net and cox's speed test tool. In fact, it's even slower than the speed I was getting on my old modem, which, when lucky, sometimes went up to around 100 mbps.

Please help.

What make/model router are you using?  Are you wired directly to the modem, wired to the router or wireless when doing the speed test?  Does the device you are using for the speedtest have a gigabit connection?

I mentioned in the post I'm using Netgear CM500. I tried wired and wireless connection when doing the speed test, the result remained the same. And yes my device has gigabit connections.

Sry, didn't notice you were asking about the router. I'm currently using Google's onhub router, which is one of the best router there is.

Ehhhh, I would personally disagree with that. Google just helped with the GUI, the firmware and hardware is TP-Link which is getting better, but is more inline with value then performance. The onhub just offers alot of automated support that makes it easier to use. Also it has some features for Internet everywhere and some other systems that aren't popular yet. Here is a review on it.

Also, what model do you have? There are different versions. Also, how do you have it configured? I assume you bought it from a store and not Google right?

Last, what results do you get if you connect direct to the netgear modem?

"The OnHub is designed for folks who don't want to know nothin' about what makes their Wi-Fi go."

That is the first thing I thought too when I was reading everything about the setup and automation on this thing    No thank you!
