Frequent internet connection loss

Hi,

I just had Cox internet installed, and after a short lived happy moment for the 25+ MB/sec, I started to get annoyed by the frequent drops of the internet connection. They happen several times per hour, and last from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Today, during a longer outage I noticed that some sites work (like Cox' and the local newspaper's sites) while others don't, like yahoo, google, and others.

Do other users experience the same problem (I live in Goleta, California)? Is it a special situation with Cox' network these days (I noticed the problem from my first day of use, last Friday, 4 days ago)? Could it be a problem with my Netgear modem, or connection (I kind of doubt it as some sites worked, while others didn't)?
