fraud phone calls

I just received a phone call that is a total fraud. It was identified as "Google Guy" and the number on my caller ID is 760-705-8888. Can you tell me how and where to report this fraud call?

What did the caller say or ask for? That is the standard number that can come up if someone is calling you from Google Voice/phone. I doubt a professional scammer/telemarketer would use something so easy (relatively) to track.

However, to answer your question, you can try making a report to the FCC, just make sure it warrants one, and isn't just a prank phone caller.

There are several websites dedicated to finding and stopping the phone spammers and scammers. 800notes.com and whocallsme.com are 2 of them ( free to use... i don't work for either one).  You can read notes from people who have listened to the entire Google Guy call and pushed all the buttons in response.... just to see what the Google Guys scam is.

From what I see online it's a futile and time consuming effort to go through FCC. I haven't seen one person who benefited from it and see hundreds who have wasted monumental time trying to get unwanted calls stopped. I'm also on the DNC list and makes no difference at all. My phone is virtually useless as I live alone and almost all the calls I get are from scammers, robo calls, collections for people I don't know but that doesn't stop them from calling and last but not least changed my number when I got 2 collect call attempts from prison! Relief? NO...the new number is worse than the old. Cox should furnish the tools free of charge as I'm guessing that most people affected to this degree are seniors on low fixed incomes. Does the .99 cent per mo option include all calls you enter somewhere? or does the call have to come in Anonymous which would be useless as calls come in with a City or Unavailable or Cell Phone No or 800 Service or anything but Anonymous. I never answer my phone any more and have turned off my voice mail so they don't even get an answer but the calls continue. I do like the fact that my Phone History at Cox shows who attempted to call anyway and I can Google 800notes.com and actually confirm that they are the unwanted and/or harrassing calls of yore! But it's unfair that I have no control at all over my own phone and no help from Cox who (just in my opinion) is selling my number to a large portion of these scammers or if robo calls are an outside nuisance then Cox should have a way of identifying them and not letting them through digitally some way as I would think robo calls that are automatic would have to be on some type of digital program or app that allows them to do this???

I just received a call from MYSELF!  Cox needs a "smarter" phone switch.
