Email Outage
2 days now without email. Can customers expect some sort of compensation and an explanation as to what's happened?

My email has not been loading and/or working correctly for the past three days. I just talked to a human being at Cox. I asked the rep when the system was going to be up again. He said it should be this afternoon. I also asked him if the system had been hacked. He said absolutely not. He said it was a "storage" problem, whatever that means. I think the system was hacked. I forgot to ask him about compensation because I had been on hold for such a long time. Cox should compensate/credit all customers for the down time.

I have been without Cox Email since Friday PM 12-14-12; I think this could be handled with more transparency considering the lenght of time Cox has been down. What caused the failure and what are they doing about it as well as estimated accurate time for completion of email problems. I have been told "Friday pm" then "Saturday pm" then "today" but Cox has missed all of these "reported fix" times. I am unable to forward mail to other email servers and have business emails that need to be answered. I feel this is either a virus or they have been hacked; the "storage answer" doesn't make sense to me as that could be forseen and fixed before critical failure. Anyway I assume they are working hard to fix this issue and I hope that things return to normal asap - then everyone can have a Happy Holiday!

I was just logging in to state the same thing and contact Cox. When paying for a technology service, I do expect a temporary outage for updates, periodic down times for glitches, etc. But to go DAYS without something I am paying for does call for some compensation. At least a coupon for a free pay-per-view or SOMETHING. Especially when its over the entire weekend.

We have experienced signal problems with all of our Cox bundled services since early this past summer. A tech was out in June and determined that the signal was weak before it reached the pole at the rear of our property. He installed an amplifier where the cable enters our home and it took care of the situation until recently. For the past month or so we've had signal issues again off and on, but get the run around from Cox on resolving the issue, even though a next door neighbor has had the same problems.
They make us schedule a tech visit and if it's working fine when the tech calls before coming out, they tell us there's no point in coming out. In other words, just pay your bill and *** it up. I'd already planned to change providers for everything after the holidays are over with. This email issue only confirms that decision.
Since I rely on email correspondence for both work and personal communication, I will notify everyone I deal with to use a different email address for me going forward. Something I'd planned to put off until I scheduled a switch over. We have been Cox customers for at least 27 years and in the past we felt the level of service warranted the extra cost. They are not the same company I used to praise. I regret that we can no longer rely on them.

It started a few days back when the cox servers went out and came back up several times in one day, I run a business that depends on the web. Ain't making any money when you have to sit around and wait. Now comes the email outage :{. My answer to their not telling us why this happened, simple, they don't know!!!

I too have been having issues with the internet service. I also had my email hacked into and then had it shut down with no notification. When I called they indicated that my account was shut down and that they had changed my password which would require me to contact them directly. Now having no email for 2 full days is totally unacceptable. I too COX Communications would like a credit to my bill.

Fact 1:Cox has two geographically separated email centers. One the main the second a backup. Each has a primary and a secondary server array. All four went down? They have gone thru numerous equipment and component changes and the problem still existed.
Fact 2: Cox employees and were being "quietly" and "unofficially" told to be concerned about sensitive information in their personal residential email.
This suggest that that them did in fact have a serious security breach.
When are they going to be honest with their customers?
