DVD Player

I simply want to know how to hook-up my DVD Player to my tv.  The DVD player that I want to hook up will go to the TV that has a cable box connected to.

I chatting with an individual about 10 minutes ago who said, "because of the difficulty license he can NOT provide me with this information".  WHAT ??

He told me to contact the DVD manufacturer.

It was obvious that he or she did NOT have a good understanding of the English language because of the writing of words.

I don't know if this person was a male or female due to the name that was provided during the chat.

Can anybody tell me how to hook-up my DVD player?  I do have the DVR connected to this TV as well.

Thanks

Can you tell us how your DVR is connected to your TV? Can you tell us what inputs are not in use on your TV? Can you tell us what outputs you have on your DVD player?

My DVD player is connected to my TV with a single HDMI cable, to HDMI 1. My DVR is connected to my TV with a single HDMI cable, to HDMI 2.

The DVR cable box has cable out to tv.  Cable from wall goes to cable in on DVR cable box.

The inputs NOT in use on the tv are:  audio out left and right, audio in left and right, s video, video in.  The ONLY input on the tv being used is 75 ANT/Cable.

DVD player has the following outputs-  DVD player AV s video, video out left and right. digital out is coaxial and optical.

Also on the DVD player is-  tuner rf in and rf out, s video, video left and right, comp out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Simply connect VIDEO OUT (yellow) from your DVD player to VIDEO IN (yellow) on your TV, and audio out left/right (red/white) from your DVD player to the audio in left/right (red/white) next to the VIDEO IN on your TV.

Since I have a Svideo cable could I just attach the Svideo cable on the DVD player to Svideo on the TV?  Would I still have to use the red, white, and yellow cables ?

Thanks

Since the S-video cable is video only, you'd still need the red/white audio cables. Insert them adjacent to the S-video cable on your TV. You would no longer need the yellow RCA video cable, however.

I hooked up the DVD player with the Svideo cable and the red and white cables and it works GREAT !!

I just picked up a VCR and wanted to know, is there a way to hook up the VCR and still keep the DVD player connected ?

I just want to play movies on the DVD player and VCR, no recording.

I don't want to mess up the DVR cable box with these connections.

The VCR has 2 red, 2 white, 2 yellow jacks.  It also has ant in and RF out.  Thats all it has for jacks.

Thanks

If you have an available set of inputs open on the back of your TV you can use a method similar to what was described above to connect the VCR.  You would then just switch inputs on the TV to switch between viewing the DVD, VCR, and Cable TV.

It appears that his TV has just one auxiliary input, and that is either S-video or composite video. So, his yellow RCA video connector shares the input with the S-video connector. Quite common. In this case, using the yellow RCA is not an option if the S-video connector is in use. I think he said he was using the coaxial output of his STB for connection to the TV. If so, there are no easy answers to his VCR question.

So if I don't use the Svideo cable that I presently have connected to the DVD player and the TV could I use both the VCR and DVD player by connecting red, white, and yellow cables ?

Could I call COX and have them send out a technician so I could use the DVD player, VCR, and DVR ?

Is there something I could purchase from  Radio Shack to allow all 3 devices to work ?

Would any of the above questions work ?

I would think there are other people out there that have all 3 devices, DVR, DVD player, VCR.

Thanks in advance.

Most people have more inputs on their TVs. I have seven inputs on mine. You have two inputs: The RF (channel 3) coaxial input, and the auxiliary composite input - which uses either the S-video or the yellow RCA connector. You cannot connect both your DVD and your VCR to this input at the same time, be it by S-video or RCA.

To do so, you must use some sort of AV switch, like the Radio Shack model 15-310 or better.
