The Cisco hasn't been approved for new firmware in a while. What feature/fix were you looking for? Odd you should specifically mention a bootloader. Does this reference another post?

You probably won't get an update unless a new one comes out and Cox pushes it. If the firmware is not bugged and is secure not causing problems, then as they say if it works don't fix it, so if they aren't having a huge amount of complaints about some bug or security risk, likely nothing will get updated.
You can take a look here for some other information from users.

I was just guessing on the bootloader needing an update. I know there's newer firmware because the current firmware is from 2012 -- I see plenty of other threads discussing firmware in 2013.

Alot of times firmware gets release to fix problems only in specific areas. The infractrure (CMTS, headend, node, etc) are different in different areas, so newer firmware doesn't always mean better. i can try to look up release notes if tell which one you have and which one you want. But in general, if its been kept on over night for longer then a week, it should have the latest in your area.

Thanks. I bought the modem used, so I figured it probably needs a update. I will wait it out and/or hope a Cox rep intervenes and sends the latest firmware, if any.

Might want to send your MAC address to Odog over on DSLReports.com. He is Cox's firmware guru. Or wait for a moderator to respond and email them the info. Not something you want to post publicly just in case.

Thanks.
Does inactive mean broken, unused, or will be active later? If inactive means I need a new modem, let me know and I'll send this one back.
Also, see http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/1352.aspx where there's a discussion re firmware specific to the 3010. I just want to make certain I'm getting the best out of my equipment.

Chris, can you please take a look at mine and see about the firmware? Mine is older than the one mentioned from 2012. Also, I believe the service code needs to be updated, as I am getting 32M down via COX's speed test. It seems that web pages are taking a lot longer to load since swapping my old modem to this 3010.
Thanks in advance for any support you can provide.
