Download / Upload

Ran the Speed Check twice. 1 Mbps download / 0.39 Mbps upload 0.15 Mbps download / 0.40 Mbps upload I'm curious if these are considered high speeds? I have lag and haven't messed around much with computers since the Commodore 64 so don't really know.

You had a Commodore 64? Thats so cool. Still have it?

Those are really low speeds, but what speeds should you get? Like whats your Internet Tier?

Also, what kind of modem do you have and is your computer connected directly to it?

Yes, I have a Commodore 64 in the closet with software even. It was my first computer. I do have the Starter Tier. Internet only, no TV, no phone, no bundle. I am curious as to how to stay abreast of upcoming rate increases (where posted) but that is probably more of a "user" issue... lol How do I make a direct connection to the wall? I had to "buy" a Cox modem and when I direct connect to it I get the message that I am not in a group. No cuts, frays, etc., visible. As stated, I'm no longer computer literate when it comes to not going through a phone to a bulletin board system... lol Thanks Gruff

Could you give more detail on this? My guess is when your connecting direct to the modem, you might not know to reboot the modem. Basically the modem is stubborn, and if your changing whats connected to it, the modem won't let that device online until it's rebooted. But perhaps I am misunderstanding something

Also, could you explain in simple terms what the symptoms feel like? When you talk about lag, do you mean page to page? Downloading something? Streaming like Youtube? If it seems like it stalls..and then the whole page loads at once, you might be feeling the pinch of having a slower upload speed.
