Doctor's Offices Can't Leave Msgs on Voice Mail
I repeatedly have people who are calling from doctor's offices tell me that they aren't allowed to leave a message on my Voice Mail when they call. But others have no problems leaving a message. And this is not when someone is on the phone. This is a big problem because our Cox phone number is the only one my husband uses. How can we fix this?

Ever heard of HIPAA? Perhaps there is a person in the household that needs regular medical attention.

Actually it is my business since its relevant to my question. If they wanted to keep things private..don't post on a public forum. :-p Call Cox.
The question still stands what message or what happens when the Dr TRIES to leave a message. Are they getting a busy signal? Some kind of error announcement? Do they hear your message but cant leave one of their own? Or do they leave it and you just don't receive it? Any problems with the Dr calling you in general? First thing that comes to mind is some put on selective call forwarding on that number (to say a cell phone?) and there is something wrong with THAT voicemail? Just a guess though. Need more data.
PS. Also check to make sure you don't have Anom call rejection on, just in case they have caller ID blocked. Cant see why a Dr office would have caller ID blocked, but that would explain them saying they "werent allowed" to leave a message.

The only thing I can think of is to ask the nurse/receptionist to call you the next time your there, via speaker phone, so you can hear the message? Or better yet, call them and ask them to put you on a three wall call so you can hear what they hear when they call. Without that its would alot of guess work and trial and error....and without a good way to know when the problem is fixed..trial and error is very hard.
Also you say "Doctors" as in more then one office? Or just different Doctors in the same office? I ask because maybe there could be something up with their phone system that is stopping them from leaving a message. I can't think of a reason off the top of my head, but alot of Doctors office use complex internal phone systems that have all kinds of complicated rules.

I think its funny more people posted to comment on how I tried to help, instead of actually trying to help the OP themselves. Not part of the solution...
