Do I Need a Digital Box?
OK, I get it. Cox is going all digital. Thanks. Not much information available on the website... www.cox.com/GoAllDigital
Are the analog channels going to be re-assigned to digital channels?
My TV supports both analog cable channels and digital channels. So, do I really need to get one of those "Mini Boxes"?
Thanks!

Not digital, encryption. Every TV needs a box or cable card to get Cox service. So to answer your question; yes.

So... wait. So I need to get a decryption box to continue to use Cox. Umm. OK.
It seems deceptive. The advertising says "Cox is going digital" when in fact, this is an encryption to prevent pirating.
The website says the box is free for the first year so that means they're going to start charging a monthly fee for the box next year.
In effect, the PAYING customers are going to pay for Cox's anti-pirating technology. How is that fair?

Yes… Mini-box is basically a decryption box with digital tuner. Hate to bust your bubble but if you do search of mini box on this site you’ll find many complains about this deception (including one from me).
Yes to monthly charges (2.99) after first year for first box and immediately for other boxes needed. Also Yes we the customers are paying for anti-piracy technology plus some added revenue.

"“The world isn't fair, Calvin."
"I know Dad, but why isn't it ever unfair in my favor?”"
Why is it fair they stopped broadcasting analog signal? Why can't I play new blue-ray on my computer? DRM is here to stay. The FCC allowed cable operators to encrypt, and they all took advantage of it. IMO cable is dying. Video over IP is the future, with app integration and everything in the cloud. A 35$ chromecast can already get you alot.
