Do I have the best modem for my needs?
I have Cox High Speed internet Preferred and Cox Telephone. (No television service). Currently leasing a Ubee DVW326B modem. I used Cox automated upgrade tool to determine if I had the best modem and they recommended a "better" one but when I got it it didn't have provision for telephone. I use connection mostly for streaming television to a smart TV. Can you recommend a modem/gateway that will give me better speed with the package I have?

xpogi, are you having problems with your internet service using the Ubee gateway? Are you getting the advertised speeds for the Preferred service? "Best" is very subjective. Your Ubee is an 8x4 channel modem which should support Preferred data rates. It does contain gigabit Ethernet ports but is only a single band (2.4GHz) N450 WiFi access point. If you want dual band and wireless ac support you need something else. If you are getting acceptable performance and are happy with the single band wireless, it ain't broke so don't fix it
As you found out, your phone service limits your choice. A Cisco DPQ3212 telephone modem should work, AFAIK, the price is included in your phone service. The DPQ3212 is a modem only, you would need a dual band router to go with it. I recommend either the Netgear Nighthawk series or the ASUS router like the RT-AC66U or AC68U.

Michael, that link is great ... except ... nothing there references a modem or gateway with builtin EMTA. The OP posted he has Cox telephone and is currently using a Ubee DVW326B voice gateway. Nowhere on that page, or the linked to approved modem page, say anything about a telephone modem or gateway.
Now, if the OP canceled Cox telephone and went with a free VoIP service like Google Voice on an Obihai or OOMA adapter, your approved modem list would work fine.
