December 5. Phoenix-area email problems.

I am getting the "POP server rejected the password for user......Please re-enter your password" at 11am this morning.   Entering my password does not help  ( my user name is correct... it does not have "cox.net" after it).  Today i was able to send mail but not receive.

I don't want to irritate the Cox Forum Moderators by posting this same problem over and over.  They have responded to a previous question by saying that work is being done today.

Could Cox create a "blog" or "current troubles" website where we could quickly see if we are alone with our problem and need to call for a visit from a Cox Technician?  We could click on a button at that page to say where we are and what problem we are experiencing.  Right now, this is the only place we can come.  The Cox support at Tier 2 and 2.5 is usually excellent but the hold time to get there is 25 minutes at a minimum.  This forum saves us that time on the phone.

I was able to clear the problem today by clicking on the GET MAIL button on my email page. My total downtime for email was less than 30 minutes.  But that Get Mail solution doesn't always work.

You're absolutely right yak. More info is better than less.. Cox if you're actually monitoring this, set up a page that tells us what is going on and the expected down time... All we want is info

TiffanyR, thanks for responding.  In my question i state that i do not have @cox.net in my username.

Changing the password does not help when there are area-wide problems ( i see dozens of people all complaining about the problem at the same time so i know it is not just me).  As a matter of fact, it is not a good idea to be changing the password when there are area-problems.... it just adds one more level of confusion when contacting Tech Support at Cox.

I usually don't go to webmail when i am having problems with my POP account. I spend the time fiddling to see if i can get it working. If i had urgent business, i would go to webmail.... but usually i am just trying to access my personal emails for that day.

Hello yak,

What software are you using to access your email? (Outlook, a cell phone, etc). Also, are you using multiple devices to access your email? If so, do any of those devices experience similar issues?
