DDW3612 Internet Modem/Router

Hi,

Before I purchased the subject device, I called support & confirmed that I could use it on the Cox network.  I hooked it up and it went right to Cox.  Great!  Then went to provision it, and did not find the Ubee DDW3612 or any other Ubee devices in the list.  Can they get added, or is there no intent to support them.  I ask due to getting an affirmative answer from support when I called to see if it would work.

Short answer: No

Doesn't look to be on the list.  Is that one from Charter? They use them for default devices and these aren't typically sold retail. Heck, Im even having a hard time finding it for sale online. Did you maybe ask "Do Charter modem's work with Cox?" If so, I can understand the confusion on both sides.

Hi,

I asked specifically about the Ubee.  I said nothing about Charter.  I bought the modem on eBay, so I don't know where you might purchase one outside of there.  As I said, it initialized fine but could not do the Cox end of things.  Any hope of you supporting it anytime in the future?

Oh, I'm not Cox. Im just a customer. I just like helping people. I didn't mean to insinuate fault on your side, I was just trying to read between the lines and ponder where the confusion might be, because I don't see any Ubee modems on Cox's site. Heck, I don't even see that model on Ubee's site. The closest model I can find is the DDW3610, and that all I can find is a picture and some VERY basic specs. The only place I can find a manual for the the DDW3612 is on Charter's website.

Ubee I think mostly makes products for ISP's, and Charter mostly rent those modems to customers, so you may have bought a second hand modem from someone who didn't even own it to begin with. Be careful buying electronics on Ebay. Might want to check out a retailer you can trust like Newegg or to a lesser extent, Amazon or Tigerdirect. The modem you have now is probably not going to work, and not work any time soon. Sorry :-(

I'm not sure where any of our reps would have gotten the idea that we support that model. We all use the same list, internally and externally, and it's the one Trikein linked. And there's a "well, they'll probably work" list we can go by if we drop down the firmware upgrade menu and see what files are on it, and it's not even on there.

Did you get a name or extension of who you talked to? I'd like to squash any incorrect information before it spreads any further.

I can confirm these units are definitely not approved yet.  I happen to be beta testing one now.  In all, it's an ok device however we are still vetting it for use with our network.  More information about devices approved for use on our network can be found here:
