Cox Mini Box IR Extenders
Just hooked up Mini Box to new Samsung TV and mounted Mini Box Behind TV. I thought I was going to have to use IR Extender, but for some reason, the remote worked all functions of the mini box and was not in line of sight. Anyone else experience this

There is an RF remote option on the mini-box. Cox isn't pushing it. Did you perhaps receive it in error? I believe the model number for the RF remote is RF 3220-R.

I asked for the IR extender, its just weird that I don't need it. The mini box is in strapped to the back center of the TV (wall mounted) and the remote control can still operate mini box. I just wasn't sure if it was a smart TV or HDMI thing that connects the IR signal through the TV, or maybe the signal is bouncing somehow.

I gave a "possible" explanation, as well as the model number of the RF remote. You didn't address that possibility. What is the model number of the remote?

Sorry, I didn't understand your reply when I first read it. My remote is Model URC-2220-R. Still working without IR extender....

A remote control is just a flash light with a IR bulb. It communicates by flashing the light in different pulses. So just like light, it can reflect off surfaces. You can actually see the pulses if you look with certain cameras in night view mode. Some of it has to do with power of the bulb and sensitivity of the sensor. Glad its working out, but if you have problems there are RF adapters you can connect to the boxes that negate the need for line of sight all together.
