Cox dropping Internet Connection - DNS connection failure

- Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
- Motorola Docsis 3.0 Modem (Cox Recommended)
Cox internet is dropping the lan connection. Windows Event Viewer reports the error as DNS resolution failure.
Problem occurs after approx. 10 minutes of use when:
- Connected directly to the Cable Modem
or
- Connected to router
No other devices (wifi or lan) connections are present when Cox service fails to resolve DNS.
Quite sure it is not hardware related since same devices and hardware when connected to competitor services function fine without DNS resolution errors at a variety of other competitor locations.
Problem is reproducible when connecting to other Cox users (3 different neighbors) - same error - DNS address resolution failure.
Would welcome all recommendations to resolve issue before cancelling service. Online and Phone support didn't have a clue on what to do.
