Cox Channel Guide, On Demand, and Dvr menus stuck in 4:3 format on wide screen tv.

Hi,

I have an Explorer 8240 Dvr box with Rovi 3.7 software. Recently I noticed that the On Demand menus were not all loading so I performed a reboot of the system figuring it lost communication with cox.

The reboot fixed that problem but now, the Channel Guide, On Demand guide, and the Dvr menus are all stuck in 4:3 format with side bars on the left and right. Before the reboot, all of the menus would come up in 4:3 Stretch which would fill the screen perfectly.

i've already tried every combination in the Video Aspect Ratios in the settings menu, it does nothing to the menus.

When I press the HD Zoom button on the remote within the Channel Guide and Dvr menus nothing happens. When I press the same button within the On Demand menu, it lets me select a different view but it does not actually change it on the screen.

Even the Rovi boot screen has become stuck in 4:3 with bars on the left and right. I did a reset a couple months ago for another issue and I distinctly remember it being full screen. I don't recall the version from then though.

Is there anything else I can look at?  Thanks.

Hi StangDv,

Do you see this on both an SD and HD channel? What type of cable do you have going from the TV to the receiver?

Hi Stephanie,

Yes, it's in on both hd and sd resolution channels. I am using an Hdmi cable. Even if I force only 480i out of the box, the menus still do the same thing.  As I mentioned this only started happening after a Dvr box reboot. The hardware has not changed. Maybe during the reboot there was an update to the Dvr box OS that is causing this?

Is there a way to return to an earlier version of the OS software?

I was able to find that this is a known issue and we are working to correct it in a future update. At this time, there isn't a fix. There is a work around. You can turn off your Auto Tune HD and it may make it occur less frequently. I apologize for any inconvenience. As soon as there is a fix, it will be pushed out.

Thank you Stephanie for looking into it.
