Copy Protection Never?

For some odd reason, a couple of my cable card channels are being flagged CGMS protection-copynever which means I cannot record them using SiliconDust HDHomerun and Cox cable box with Windows media Center. Those channels were working fine up until a day or two ago. Other channels are fine. I contacted SiliconDust, and they showed me how to view the cable card info, and that that particular "copy never" is coming from the cable provider.

Please fix asap! i am missing some of the shows I love and am paying for!

Thanks.

Hi Ed,

What are the channel names and channel numbers that are flagged as "copy never"? I can check with our video engineers to find out if anything changed recently.

I'm in Orange County, CA and got the same thing recently as well, wreaking a little havoc on my setup (particularly since I use an extender, copy never shows don't work on that even for live viewing). The main culprit for me seems to be NBC, channel 1004. I've seen the error with a few others recently like TNT (1018) and Cartoon Network (1071) but I think they're ok now, but of the stuff I've seen (or had set up for recording at least) it's still NBC that's giving the problem.

Still having the problem, seem to have it narrowed down to both NBC/NBCHD, channels 4 and 1004.

For comparison, through HDHR's web interface, here's what a working channel shows up like (CBS in this case):

Virtual Channel 2 KCBS
Frequency 85.000 MHz
Program Number 10367
Authorization subscribed
CCI Protection none
CGMS Protection none
Modulation Lock qam256
PCR Lock locked
Signal Strength 77% (-13.9 dBmV)
Signal Quality 95% (34.3 dB)
Symbol Quality 100%
And here's NBC showing the copynever flag:
Virtual Channel 4 KNBC
Frequency 85.000 MHz
Program Number 10590
Authorization subscribed
CCI Protection none
CGMS Protection protected-copynever
Modulation Lock qam256
PCR Lock locked
Signal Strength 78% (-13.6 dBmV)
Signal Quality 96% (34.5 dB)
Symbol Quality 100%

UPDATE YOUR HDHR SOFTWARE and it will upgrade your firmware and remove CGMS protection the CGMS is from the signal producer not COX the new firmware removes the CGMS and only looks at CCI

Thank you! Didn't realize there was a new firmware out that addressed this, I haven't tried it yet but it looks like it'll do the trick.
