Contour Record 2 DVR

I just got the Contour Record 2 DVR. One of the things I liked about previous DVRs was the ability to begin watching a program from the beginning before the recording finishes.  I often do this with football games and fast forward through commercials.  Eventually I catch up to the live action before the game ends.  I tried to do this tonight with the Contour Record 2 DVR, but I cannot find any way to make the program start playing.  I called tech support and she told me this feature is not available on the Contour Record 2 DVR. Please tell me she is wrong.  I cannot imagine that Cox went backward with technology on this DVR and removed a basic function that all previous DVRs could do.

Cox certainly has gone backwards in several areas of DVR and programming guide functionality if you are comparing the Passport/Rovi (basic DVR programming guide) software to new Contour.

I do it quite often with Contour. Find the program in the recorded programs list (yes, it will be there), and play it back. It plays back, FF, etc., as normal until you catch up.

BTW, that DVR has an actual model number. I'm using a Cisco 8642HDC. What's yours?

Domino,

Actually, the programs I schedule never move over to the recorded programs list.  They stay in the scheduled programs list while the program is going and remain there after it ends.  Eventually they just disappear from the list with no way to retrieve them.  As for the model number, I could not tell you because I returned the box for a different one.

TiffanyR,

Pause live TV is was turned on and I was able to use that feature.  Unfortunately, I could not get my DVR to record or playback so I returned it for a different model.

Your "scheduled recordings" never move to your "recorded programs" list? Not even after the recording is finished? Boy, your DVR has more problems than you initially described.
